After seeing a tweet by Howard Lindzon this morning, I found out that the StockTwits website had gotten a face lift (pictured below) and a new application had been launched called StockTwits Desktop (pictured above).
I highlighted StockTwits and how to use them as an investor in a previous post and the company has taken it one step further. StockTwits Desktop (pictured above) is the all-in-one twitter client for the investor. It offers a sizable amount of streams you can add to your workstation. Besides the typical streams offered by clients such as TweetDeck, there are:
- Recommended tweets (stock related)
- Specific people
- Forex
- Futures
- Watchlist
- Chart.ly links
- Specific symbols
- All StockTwits
- StockTwits TV
- And my favorite of all, the ability to display charts within the app
Another great feature is that there is a browser within the application. This allows for clicking links in a tweet and rather than having Firefox either load up or pop up, you have a nice tab open up with the site loaded.
The application requires Adobe AIR to operate, but so far it has been a great replacement for TweetDeck.
